One Year In

As we reflect on the past year, we are overwhelmed with gratitude.

When we launched Kuyate on this day last year, there was so much uncertainty in the air. The world was struggling to figure out how to deal with a global pandemic that had no end in sight. The idea of starting something new, while giving us something positive to focus on, was also a risky endeavor. Ultimately we decided  to move forward and allow our feelings to be expressed through the first drop on September 9th, 2020. Our thoughts from this time were captured in the first post made on Instagram:

"Born under the cloud of a pandemic, our first release is designed as a reminder to focus on connection to family and heritage while emphasizing ease and comfort as forms of self-care during difficult times."

Almost immediately we felt an outpouring of support from the FilAm community. We've been blessed to worth with a number of creators, influencers, and leaders in the FilAm community who believed in what we were doing and supported us along the way - even when we were a small account with just a few hundred followers.

Charity has always been a component of Kuyate, and we are proud to say that we have raised over $5,000 for FilAm organizations. 2020 saw one of the worst hurricanes in recent years hit the Philippines and donations went to relief efforts during that time.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way - even if it's just a follow on social media. We are grateful for each of you.

Here's to many more.
